What you read is your own business. PageMark is built on the belief that reading should be a private, peaceful sanctuary free from advertising profiling, reading speed surveillance, and social metric pressure.

PageMark functions entirely offline on your mobile device. We do not operate remote user databases, tracking analytics, or cloud reading networks.
Your reading lists, page progress, book reviews, highlights, and quotes are stored strictly on your physical hardware.
2. Information We Do NOT Collect
Because PageMark has no cloud connectivity or server telemetry, we never collect, track, or share:
- Zero Reading Telemetry: We do not track what books you read, your reading speed, chapter timestamps, or session lengths.
- Zero Personal Identifiable Information (PII): No names, email accounts, usernames, or contact details are required.
- Zero Location Data: We do not request GPS, Wi-Fi, or cellular location permissions.
- Zero Advertising Identifiers: We do not collect or monitor advertising tokens (GAID/IDFA).
- Zero Commercial Profiling: We never build commercial reading interest profiles for publishers or advertisers.
3. Information Stored Locally on Your Device
All data created within PageMark is stored inside your device's sandboxed local application storage:
- Book Records: Title, author, ISBN (entered manually), total pages, genre tags, and custom cover images selected locally.
- Reading Progress: Current page number, completion percentage, start/finish dates, and reading status (Want to Read, Currently Reading, Finished, DNF).
- Personal Journal Notes & Quotes: Book reviews, favorite excerpts, page annotations, and personal star ratings.
- Reading Goals: Annual book target count, monthly page goals, and reading streak logs.
4. Device Permissions Explained
PageMark requests only minimal local permissions:
- File Storage / Document Access (Optional): Required only if you explicitly choose to export your reading library as CSV/JSON or import an existing book log.
- Local Notifications (Optional): Used purely to trigger local daily reading reminder prompts at your selected time.
5. Data Ownership, Backups & Deletion
You maintain complete ownership of your reading history:
- Instant Deletion: You can delete any book, quote, or reset the entire library from within the app.
- Complete Removal: Uninstalling PageMark or clearing app data permanently erases all records from your device.
- Export Portability: You can export your reading log anytime to open CSV or JSON formats.
6. GDPR & CCPA/CPRA Legal Compliance
PageMark is fully compliant with global data privacy frameworks:
- Data Sovereignty: Your data remains exclusively in your possession on your device.
- No Data Sale: We do not sell, rent, or share personal data with any third party.
7. Children's Online Privacy (COPPA)
PageMark is suitable for book lovers and students of all ages. We do not collect or solicit personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 in the European Union).
8. Third-Party Services
PageMark contains no third-party tracking SDKs, advertising frameworks, or telemetry libraries.
